In my 2006 State of the County Address, I announced the formation of the Dutchess County Comprehensive Cancer Control Initiative. The Department of Health, working together with community partners and interested residents, will share information and resources to better promote cancer prevention, improve cancer detection, increase access to health and social services and reduce the burden of cancer. Our combined efforts will aid in helping to reduce cancer risks, detect cancers earlier, improve treatment and enhance quality of life for those touched by this disease.

This Cancer Control Initiative will be uniquely community based by engaging health allies such as businesses, insurance industry, academia, media and other creative partners. Many disease-based or other public health efforts are driven solely by health professionals. Your participation and commitment will be essential to our success.
